FRAX is a method (algorithm) of evaluating a 10-year risk of hip and other major osteoporotic fractures. Besides the hip fractures, the group of osteoporotic fractures includes radius, humerus and clinically-important vertebral fractures among men and women over 40. Algorithm is made of age, body mass index (BMI), various clinical risk factors and/or may involve femoral neck density evaluation.
In 2006, there was a Ukrainian FRAX created which is the first national model of hip and other major osteoporotic fractures.
