Dual-emission X-ray Absorptiometer (Hologic “Discovery WI”, Prodigy “GEHC Lunar WI” (USA))
Densitometry exam indications:
- Postmenopausal period (women)
- Age over 60 (men)
- Menstrual cycle disorders (women of reproductive age)
- Metabolism-affecting co-morbidity (rheumatologic, endocrinological disorders etc.)
- Long-term corticosteroid, cytostatic, anticonvulsant treatment etc.
- X-ray confirmed signs of osteoporosis and vertebral deformities
- Height reduction, chest kyphosis aggravation, low body mass
- History of fractures
Examination does not require any preliminary preparation and lasts up to 30 minutes. X-ray irradiation is kept at a minimum (similar to one produced by a mobile phone). Results are obtained immediately.
At the Ukrainian Scientific-Medical Center for Osteoporosis Problems, exam is performed by means of Hologic “Discovery WI”and Prodigy “GEHC Lunar WI” (USA) equipment.
